Next to this house, a wall of soil and rocks was piled up in order to protect it from the lava flow in the background. Although the enormous force of the lava pushed the wall onto the house, it is not very damaged.
Under the wall lies another lava flow, which is several days old and touched the house before the wall was made. Its surface has cooled down so it can be walked on already. The lava flow itself moves down the valley on the left.
